We are changing the experience of sex toy shopping from the traditional 'dirty book store' or sensational catalogue with second rate and overpriced sex accessories in inappropriate packaging, to a sophisticated and cultured higher quality, more affordable, and more accessible range of lifestyle products. Our shops are airy, well lit and tastefully decorated, with an open door at all times. Our approach is informed, friendly, straightforward and fun.

So how did Núa come about?

The co-owners Marie Barry and Sharon Parkes shopped for some basics five years ago in Manchester and were stunned that they could not even come close to finding what they were looking for. To add insult to injury, the environments they found themselves in while looking for objects of their desires were compromising and not at all the kind of surroundings they were used to shopping in.

Savvy and seasoned shoppers, the girls hoped to be able to approach buying sex toys as they would any other products. They wanted quality and affordable products delivered with excellent customer service. Silly, frilly, naughty and a tacky sea of red and pink may have been considered the standard by some, but it was not the image the girls had envisaged. To compound the issue, they were dismayed to find that a lot of the stores were seedy and dirty. Not at all welcoming, particularly to women.

Such outlets stocking items with nasty exaggerated veined appendages and cheap non durable Chinese imports in equally unpleasant pornographic packaging was not an option! Balding lecherous ‘gentlemen’ offering such goods for sale made the whole shopping experience quite an unpleasant affair . 

Hoping for better success, the girls hit the internet. After a long arduous trek across many sites with equally tacky images and cheaply made goods , they stumbled across a site with the item they were looking for. When the incorrect item arrived 28 days later they decided it was time to change shopping for sex toys forever. Núa was born and the first Núa store opened within a month on a shoe string. And thanks to our many and varied customers Núa continues to evolve and grow.

How does Núa compare to other sex shops?

It doesn't! The girls set out to make Núa everything that every other sex shop is not. It is not just that it is blue, with open windows and door, decorated with fresh flowers and beautiful products for every budget. The biggest comparison is how our customers feel when they enter Núa. Once inside you forget that you are in a sex shop and find yourself discussing the merits of various vibrating object as if you were discussing shoes. Nua is an open and welcoming sex shop, proud of what it is. Our customers don't feel shy about their interests no matter what those interests are.
