Caring for Acrylic Toys
Never wash acrylic with alcohol or any other solvent. Alcohol and other solvents will "craze" acrylic, creating hundreds of tiny cracks, not just on the surface, but all through the material. These cracks won't break it but they will certainly make it a lot less pretty and less hygienic. Boiling isn’t advisable, as heat can soften the material enough to make it lose its shape. It can be placed in the dishwasher, as long as it's not on a super-high heat setting. The most sensible way to clean and disinfect acrylic especially if you share them soak them in a 10% bleach solution like Milton. If you're in a monogamous or fluid-bonded relationship and aren't concerned with sexually transmitted diseases, then it will be sufficient to wash hot water and soap. It's very easy to scratch acrylic, so store it wrapped it something soft. Also, when you clean acrylic, don't dry it with paper towels or toilet paper, as that can scratch it. Dry it with a soft cloth instead. |
